Game Console Buying Guide

Are you interested in getting a game console? You’re in luck, as it’s almost Black Friday!
While Black Friday started as a day of sales in North America, and has since spread globally. The event has become so popular that it now lasts the entire weekend, followed by Cyber Monday, which is focused on discounts on products ordered online.
What makes many of the deals you can find during that period so good if you’re interested in purchasing a console, is that you will often be able to get a very good deal on a bundle.

Video-game consoles have a fixed price, which means that their prices tend to be the same in every store, what may change, however, are the items that come in the package with a console, especially now around Black Friday. You can probably find bundles with one or even several games and accessories at discounted prices.

Gaming systems are no longer just for the single player games. They now provide entertainment for the entire family, including multiplayer gaming, chat, and home cinema options. They have so many features that many families utilize them as the foundation of their home entertainment systems. They make perfect gifts for your partner, for your children or simply for yourself, a gift that will keep being relevant, entertaining and fun for years to come.

In order to help you buy the perfect console for you, here’s some information on the “big three” of video game consoles:

Microsoft Xbox One

Xbox One

The Xbox One is best for those who want all their entertainment options in one place. The console is capable of fantastic visuals and has a solid controller that’s essential for demanding games, such as first-person shooters and fast-paced action titles.

In addition to its gaming features, Xbox One comes with entertainment options including a built-in Blu-ray player, plenty of streaming options including Netflix and Hulu Plus, and the Xbox One Guide, which lets you watch and control your cable box without switching inputs. It is also a good choice for someone looking for a fitness solution in the living room.

The Kinect Sensor that you nay purchase separately or in a bundle, can be used to control just about everything on the Xbox One’s menu. It can also be used for motion-controlled games and for voice and gesture control of the console’s other features.

Nintendo Wii U

Wii U

Nintendo offers the most family-friendly games of any of the consoles. It’s also the cheapest console of the current generation. And while it is the most suitable for children, all fans of Nintendo games need a Wii U to play the newest games by the company.

The Wii U offers popular streaming services, including Netflix. It does not include a Blu-ray or DVD player, though, which both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 both have.

The GamePad, a tablet-like controller that comes with the console, has a 6.2-inch touch screen can also be used as a second screen for displaying game content, or as a main screen for games that support it. You can also use the GamePad as your main screen for watching streaming videos. The Nintendo TVii service offers a channel guide and cable box and TV control through the GamePad that’s similar to that of the Xbox One.

The Wii U Pro Controller, is similar to the Xbox and PlayStation remotes in design, making it much smaller than the standard Wii U controller and much more comfortable to use in most games, but it has no touch screen.

Sony PlayStation 4

Playstation 4

The Playstation 4 is a good choice for the gamer who enjoys playing fast-paced, graphics-intensive games. It is the most powerful console of the current generation because of its graphics processor and fast memory.

Sony has focused on the social aspects of gaming with the Playstation 4. For example, it lets you share clips and stream video of your game-play sessions.

The PlayStation 4 is a little lacking in the entertainment department. While it has a built-in Blu-ray player and access to popular streaming services such as Netflix, it lacks some of the features of other consoles, for example, the cable-box control included in both the Xbox One and Wii U.

The Playstation 4 DualShock 4 controller features an LED bar that lights up on the back in different colors. It has motion sensitivity, dual motors for rumble feedback, a built-in speaker, a headset jack, and a touch pad.

The PlayStation Vita, is a standalone mobile gaming device, but we list it as a PlayStation 4 accessory because of its Remote Play feature: You can stream compatible games over your Wi-Fi network from the console to the Playstation Vita, and play them on the smaller portable screen. The Vita has its own games available on cards and via download that can be played on the go.
