Easter is coming and we can’t wait! Apart from the arrival of Easter signaling that it is officially spring and winter is over until next year, we love the excuse to get down and decorate our homes!
Little things can make a big difference so you don’t have to go all out re-decorating. Just buying or making a few in season items will do the trick. If however, you really want to get into it then you can give your walls a lick of paint in a bright and fun color. Spring is all about pastels so get pastel yellow, pink, purple, green or blue. Just paint one accent wall to give the place some edge.
If you don’t want to re-paint the walls just for a season then try changing the paintings on them!
Get paintings that are more spring oriented such as paintings of flowers or blossoms. If you can’t afford new paintings then buy wall-decals which are an amazing alternative that will still make you smile. They’re easy to use, and easily removable.
One of the best ways I find to makeover my home for spring is simply to plant new flower seeds in the front yard or back yard. Sometimes I’ll admit that I’m too impatient and will buy those ‘ready-grown’ flowers that I just need to plant into the ground and not wait for the seeds to grow. If you don’t have a yard then put potted plants along the window-sill. Plant them, nurture them and then watch them bloom and grow throughout spring and summer.
If you’re looking for something that doesn’t take much effort then bring out the throw pillows or change your sheets! The bed is the focal point in a bedroom so changing the sheets can make huge difference. I see it every time I switch, and you will too!
If you have kids, buy them an Easter bunny! A stuffed one that is – unless you really want to buy your kids a living bunny rabbit. Now would be the perfect time to buy one…
If you are more creative in the kitchen than you are with decorating your home then bake a cake in a flower cake mold or, bake some cookies and top them with Easter sprinkles. I can’t guarantee how long it’ll be around for once it comes out the oven!
Last but not least, replace that dirty doormat from the winter slush and snow with a bright and cheerful spring alternative.
If all else fails, cozy up on the sofa for a family movie night and watch Hop – the Easter movie must watch.
