Fall is just around the corner. So let’s start thinking about getting cozy! There’s no need to redecorate your entire home every season but it is nice to be able to feel the change of season within your home too- and I’m not just talking about the need to turn off the air conditioning and turn up the heat.
Here are 10 simple (and cheap) ways to feel the Fall spirit with fall home decorating ideas:
1. Get a Rug
If you live in an extremely hot climate then you may want to wait a little until it really cools off to start the switch from summer to fall. Many people who haven’t got carpets have a rug that they put down once the weather cools off. There’s nothing worse than starting the day by getting off the bed and your feet hitting a stone cold floor. With a rug your feet will be much happier!
If you’re a die-hard football fan then combine fall and the starting of football season by buying a rug to support your favorite team! Great gift to buy for a college student as well.
2. Pile up the Pillows
During the summer it’s just too hot to share your sofa with a bunch of pillows. Get a couple of throw pillows to cuddle up with on the couch as the seasons get cooler.
3. Snuggle with a Duvet
It’s a highlight for me when I can finally switch my summer blanket for a big, puffy duvet that I can snuggle up in bed with. It’s like a weather milestone. It also means that I’ll never want to leave my bed again…
4. Keep the house Dry
As summer turns to fall, rain showers become more regular. Here come the umbrellas, and for umbrellas you’ll need an umbrella stand so that they don’t end up scattered around your entrance hallway making a mess!
5. Bring the Outside In!
For little touches you can collect fall leaves and pine cones to display in the house. Buy an apothecary jar or two and fill it up!
6. Twig out a Little
Take the outside in theme a little further. For some DIY fall decorations collect some twigs and glue them together to create letters or add a ‘fall feel’ to regular items.
7. Welcome the Change
The first thing people set their eyes on as they walk in your door is the doormat. A simple way to transfer between seasons is to switch up your doormats. A summer one can be bright and cheery. A fall doormat can be more muted in color – with the popular fall colors that are among my favorites of color schemes.
8. Kindle a Candle
Candles always add an element of warmth and coziness to any setting. It’s in their function to bring warmth. You can DIY mason jars to hold the candles.
9. Make your Jackets part of the Décor
Another way to feel the season switch is to get a coat stand and hang up some coats, scarves, and hats on it.
10. Use your Scarves as a Statement piece
I love it when it finally cools down enough to wear a scarf and keep my neck nice and warm. I hardly take them off during the fall and winter months! When I do take them off I hang them up as part of the décor. I have a plain rail that I tie my scarves onto in fun patterns and designs. It helps me keep track of what I have, keep them easily accessible, and adds some decoration to my room. You can get a rail like me, or add some hooks to a wall and hang them up there!
So there you have it! Let’s keep the fall fun!
