Many kids have not perfected the art of subtlety and will make it very clearly known what they want for Christmas. For most parents, the problem isn’t finding out what their children want for Christmas, it’s trying to fit it all into their budget because their kids want too much.
For those people who don’t live in the same house as the kids, and don’t find the laptop on the same toy page each time they open it up, how will they know what to buy? How about grandparents, uncle and aunts, or friends?
I’m going to help you out here and introduce you to the Top Ten Toys of 2015:
Back in 2010, the world was introduced to the Minions. Since then they have grown in popularity and their cuteness is infectious. So much so that this year they got their very own dedicated Minions movie which instantly became a hit. The Despicable Me movie is now one of the highest-grossing animated movies, Disney’s Frozen takes first place.
Kids and adults alike, just cannot get enough of Frozen, even though the movie came out 2 years ago. It’s got catchy songs, cute characters, and a nice moral plot. What else could there be in a movie to make it more perfect?! Naturally, if you like the movie, you’ll want the merchandise. So quickly enough toys like Olaf teddies, or Elsa ice castles began springing up on the market and 2 years later are still as popular.
Then there’s Star Wars which can just be in a class of its’ own. The first movie came out in 1977, with the latest one coming out back in 2005. Now, 10 years later they have decided to make a new one. However, all this time Star Wars merchandise has never lost its’ popularity.
Another thing that 2015 brought us was the rise in popularity of hoverboard scooters– the closest thing we have to what Marty McFly rode in ‘Back to the Future II’ when he traveled to 2015 from the year 1985. These are a great gift for teens or adults!
2015 also saw the debut of the Lammily doll. Lammily is a doll created with the typical human body proportions of an average woman as opposed to those of Barbie which are not humanly possible to have. The creator of Lammily wanted girls to play with a doll that looked real, rather than something physically unattainable that will make girls feel fat or ugly and cause self-confidence issues. Brilliant.
Barbie however, is still popular and frankly, I can’t ever see her going out of style!
More Toys that have never gone out of style, and probably never will, are LEGO and Mega Bloks. Mega Bloks are just bigger legos and safer for babies or toddlers to play with. They’re also much easier to clean up than Lego which manages to get EVERYWHERE.
In this day and age, we can never forget the tech side of playing. Kids love to play video games. If you can get information about what kind of games console they have, or what games they already have, then you can go ahead and buy a game for them! If they do not have a games console then the Nintendo Wii is popular for kids as it keeps them somewhat active instead of sitting and giving your thumbs a good workout. Similar to the Nintendo Wii is the Xbox 360 Kinect. These 2 gaming consoles run on a person’s movements controlling that of their persona on the screen. It’s good for a rainy day when you want your kids to loose some energy and jump about. And now with the Black Friday sales coming up, it’s the perfect time to buy because many of these consoles come in a bundle- meaning they come with some games included too!
Here’s an extra one: If your kids like to play on your smartphone or iPad, and you’re sick of them hogging it, buy them their own! You can buy tablets that will filter out any inappropriate content on the internet, and also come with kid-proof durable cases, and games ready to be played.
